“THE ROOM OF OLIVE TREES”
… a suggestion..an impulse which nourishes mind, creativity and memory… and everything is the world.
… a quick note, a doodle, few traces left on a tiny piece of paper, seemingly forgotten and then, for a mysterious reason, that seed begins to sprout and demand to see the light.
An idea takes shape and comes through in the silence. I am ravished from the desire to express that thought.
Everything appears already where it should go, every detail becomes breath. On and on, there is a series of acts which look constantly towards the infinite and they are careful to the dictation of the mind.
…ah the olive tree!…the word, the image, the mystery, the soul, the agony.
Mr. Verzè opens the room door and I take a careful look. Wrought iron, forged with bellows, lead you upstairs and gently offers a detail – a branch of olive.
The sunlight enters from the window behind us and it calls us. We are enveloped by its warmth… and then out there, this precious plant come to the fore, symbol of divine light, knowledge, life, regeneration and peace. It inspired artists, poets and mystics of all time.
It’s a triumph of light: not a dazzling light, but a quiet, merry and peaceful one.

D’Annunzio wrote:
“Praised be the olive a simple wreath, a white tunic, a harmonious prayer are a celebration for us.”

This is the inspiration from which “Silence” (among the olive trees) was born. It all starts with a feeling of peace and it materializes in a painting that welcomes the guest and that suggests to enjoy the silence of this place, the peace that is possible to feel at Verzè’s house.
Different shades of green first depict this Mediterranean lure and then take shape in the centre of the work, in the gesture of the young girl which emerges from the painted surface.
Being a sculptress, I express the third dimension of the painting in that detail that I think it is begging to take shape. So, here is the forefinger of that little hand coming out in round.
The painting goes down from the board in order to show itself directly on the wall and to complete the composition, which is there to caress the mind.

b>A WALL, A WORK OF ART

year: 2002
The “trace” of the brush emerges again and it gently expresses the tension, the quest, the discovery, the change… it breaks free into the space to become presence.
